Chopstick Edison Review: Good Food; Smelly Place

Although there are a few tables for dine-in customers, ChopStick is essentially a takeout place serving tasty Indian-Chinese food at reasonable prices for fairly-large size portions.

Open seven days a week, the small place offers a variety of vegetable, lamb, chicken, fish and prawn dishes that should appeal to Indians who relish Indian-Chinese cuisine.

As expected in a Chinese restaurant, Chopstick offers a range of Noodle dishes on the menu including Vegetable Haka Noodle, Vegetable Lowmein, Chicken Haka, Shrimp Haka, American Chopsuey, Vegetable Singapore Noodles and Thai Laksa Coconut Curry Noodles. There's also the usual Vegetable Fried Rice, Chicken Fried Rice, Shrimp Fried Rice and a Vegetable Masala Fried Rice.

Vegetarians need not despair. Chopstick has an extensive vegetarian section on the menu with dishes like Achari Vegetables, Chilli Vegetables, Gobi Manchurian, Szechuan Paneer and Sweet & Sour Vegetables.

During our recent visit to Chopstick, we tried a variety of dishes including Chilli Chicken ($7.50), Vegetable Manchurian ($6.50), Vegetable Chilli Garlic Fried Rice ($6.95) and Vegetable Haka Noodles ($5.95).

Fine Vegetable Manchurian

The best item was Vegetable Manchurian.

It had just the right spices and gravy thickness.

Chilli Chicken

The Chilli Chicken could have been a little hotter.

On the menu, it had images of two chillies, which led us to believe it'd be burning hot. It was not.

Hakka Noodles

The Vegetable Haka Noodles and Vegetable Chilli Garlic Fried Rice were yummy and quickly gobbled up.

Our overall experience with the Chopstick food was good. After placing the order, it took about 14 minutes for our food to be ready, within the promised range of 10-15 minutes.

Smelly Place

Just don't go to Chopstick expecting a nice dine-in experience.

The place has a slight "fishy" smell that may put off some people, particularly vegetarians. Obviously, the folks at Chopstick haven't heard of room freshners.

This restaurant also has a few Malaysian and Thai items on the menu but we did not try any of these.

Chopstick is located in a small strip mall on Oak Tree Road. Its neighbors include Sher-E- Punjab and Kwality Ice Cream. - © OakTreeRoad.us
